Conversations about Singing through Menopause (online event)

About the event:

Our voices are affected by hormones throughout our lives and during menopause many singers struggle with vocal change. In this session, find out what happens to the menopausal voice, and discuss what you can do to support your singers and your own voice during this transition. Everyone is welcome, whether you are menopausal, leading and supporting singers through menopause or just interested in learning more.

Dr Kathleen Cronie is a choral conductor and singing teacher, with 20 years of experience as an MD, voice teacher, and singer. Her PhD research explored what singers need from their conductors to fully participate in choral singing, and she now offers support and coaching to choirs and MDs. She recently founded Singing Through and Beyond Menopause, a project that provides resources, lessons and singing groups for menopausal singers.

This event is part of our Conversation about inclusion series, discussing the barriers that stop people from attending, taking part or progressing in music groups, so we can change things from within and fully include everyone. After a short presentation, we want to hear your questions, thoughts and experiences. This event will not be recorded and our team will lead the conversation so you are supported to share.

We'll talk about:

  • What happens to the singing voice through menopause
  • How to support your own voice through menopause
  • How to support your singers as a leader or organiser of choirs/singing groups

There will be an opportunity to ask questions during the event.

Who this event is for: Anyone leading or organising a choir/singing group, or who sings in a choir/singing group is welcome to attend.
