Alverton Brass has vacancies for cornet players and a kit player.
Alverton Brass plays to a good standard and draws from a vast pool of musical experience, not only from the brass band world, but also military bands, dance bands and orchestras. The band does not take part in competitions and mainly concentrates on entertaining concerts raising money for charities either independently or joining forces with other bands and choirs. Its first rehearsal was in the Orchards Extra Care facility in Brompton in October 2007 and since then has gone from strength to strength. The band's Musical Director, James Corking (PGCE ARSM RNCM graduate 2023) was appointed in 2024. He is a professional trumpet player who recently toured with The Addams Family musical. He's also performed at the Newcastle Theatre Royal Panto and played with Foden’s, Brighouse & Rastrick, Leyland, Elland Silver, Strat & Fishburn at venues including Carnegie Hall New York (with the Tees Valley Youth Orchestra), Royal Albert Hall and Glasshouse Gateshead.
The band rehearses on Thursdays 7:30 - 9:30pm, Brompton, Northallerton
